Going through insurance seems complicated. How exactly does your process work?
There are a few steps to bill your insurance, but don't worry – most of the work is on us! Here is how the process works:
1.) First, we need to verify your benefits in order to understand your insurance coverage.
2.) Once we have that information, we will either call or email you with a summary of your benefits.
3.) We need to secure a doctor's prescription for supplies, and a copy of your sleep study if you're interested in a new machine. If you provide us with your doctor’s name and phone number, we’ll be happy to acquire that prescription on your behalf.
4.) When we have all the necessary documentation, we’ll send your information to our quality control department for a final check to make sure everything is in order. This process takes between 24-48 hours. During this stage, we'll also call you to take your final order.
5.)Now you're ready to ship! We'll send out your products promptly, and they'll be delivered to your door.

What is the difference between a BiPAP and a CPAP with C-Flex?
While both BiPAP and C-Flex were designed to reduce expiratory pressure (pressure while exhaling), they work in different ways and offer different amounts of relief. BiPAP is a Bi-Level device that allows for a very large variance in pressures administered while inhaling and exhaling. This allows for an unstrained and comfortable exhale and tends to aid in a patient attaining a deeper and more restful sleep. C-Flex offers a smaller dip in pressure at the onset of exhalation. This was Respironics (Philips) answer to the fact that most insurance companies are hesitant to pay for a Bi-Level device. The C-Flex is still a CPAP, but offers some variation in pressure to aid in exhalation. One common complaint about the C-Flex is that, because it does not offer a lower pressure for a full exhalation, it causes patients to breathe faster and can be uncomfortable.
Top -
Do you sell used products?
No. Every product we sell is new and has never been opened.
Top -
Is the home sleep test available and safe for children?
No, unfortunately, the home sleep test is not available for children.
Top -
What are auto-titrating positive airway pressure (APAP) machines?
APAPs are sleep apnea machines that automatically adjust pressure throughout the night to ensure you receive the optimal pressure at all times to keep your airway open. This has two amazing benefits: (i) patients who gain or lose weight do not need to undergo a titration study at a sleep lab to determine their new optimal pressure setting and (ii) people who roll over in their sleep will receive optimal pressure according to their position (for instance, higher pressure when they're sleeping on their back and lower pressure when they're on their stomach).
Top -
Does my sleep apnea machine come with a manufacturer's warranty?
Yes. Most of the sleep apnea machines (CPAP, Bi-Levels, APAPs and humidifiers) that we sell carry a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Please contact us if you would like to make a claim.
Top -
Which mask will work with my sleep apnea machine?
Every sleep apnea mask and tube is a standard size. You can combine any mask, with any tube and any machine. Choose your favorite ResMed mask, combine it with your favorite Respironics CPAP and connect the two with a Sunset Healthcare tube!
Top -
What are the benefits of adding humidification to my CPAP, Bi-Level or APAP?
Most patients report that heated humidification increases the comfort of their sleep apnea therapy. By warming and humidifying the air, most patients find that they experience less drying and irritation of the nostrils, mouths and throats.
Top -
What is a Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP)?
A BiPap machine solves a problem that many sleep apnea sufferers have with a CPAP, which is the struggle exhaling against the constant pressure of a CPAP. By introducing a pressure variant (lower pressure when the user breathes out and higher pressure when the user breathes in), the BiPAP machine will deliver an overall more comfortable experience for the user.
Top -
What is the difference between a CPAP and a Bi-Level?
A CPAP machine delivers a constant level of pressure (recommended by your doctor) into your airway to keep it open while you sleep. A Bi-Level machine has two pressure settings – one for inhalation and one for the beginning of exhalation. On the tip of your exhale, your Bi-Level machine will lower the pressure to the prescribed setting in order to provide a more natural and comfortable experience with your sleep therapy. Patients with higher pressure settings often find Bi-Levels to be much more comfortable than CPAPs.
Top -
How do I set up a machine?
We recommend that you allow us to set up an appointment with a licensed respiratory therapist in order to help you get started on your machine. Otherwise, you’ll need to speak with a manufacturer technician to get your machine set up.

My mask leaves red marks on my face. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
Yes, this is a common complaint with CPAP, and there are a few things to think about when this occurs. First, try loosening your headgear straps. If you do this and find that you have air leaks, it’s likely that your headgear needs to be replaced. Alternatively, think about how long it has been since you replaced the cushion in your mask. If your mask is newer, consider a change in the mask itself. Sometimes a different mask can make a huge difference in your level of comfort with CPAP.
Top -
Where are you located? Is there a retail store where I can try on masks?
Our office is located in Los Angeles, CA. We do not carry merchandise in the office, nor do we have retail locations. All of our products are shipped directly to our customers for their convenience. If you’re concerned about a mask fitting, let us know. We have a generous return and exchange policy, and we want to help you find the right products to keep you healthy and compliant with your CPAP therapy.
Top -
How often should I change my CPAP supplies?
In order to provide maximum comfort and fit, most sleep apnea supplies are disposable. The more often you change them, the better they perform and the more hygienic the overall experience is. If not replaced, silicone mask cushions can develop leaks, filters clog and allow dust and pollen into your airway and over-stretched headgear require extreme tightening, which causes discomfort.
Many users strive to follow the reimbursement guidelines for Medicare. Additionally, many insurance companies also follow the Medicare replacement schedule.

How do I clean my mask and tubing?
There are a variety of cleaning products specifically designed to clean your sleep apnea supplies. Click here for the products that we carry.
Top -
Why are your prices so low?
Our cash-pay site allows us to cut out the middle man when dealing with you, the consumer. We combine this lean operating model with our direct purchasing relationship with most of the manufacturers of sleep apnea products to offer some of the lowest prices in the industry.
Top -
Will you match the competition's price?
We will match our competitor's online advertised list prices in many cases. Simply email a link to the product page showing a lower price and we will let you know by the next business day if we can match that price.
Top -
Why are there huge price variations in certain sleep apnea machines?
Much like buying a car or buying a computer, the more features a machine has and the better the performance and overall experience, the higher the price. We strive to carry only high value products at all price points. However, there is no doubt that the higher priced machines will deliver superior comfort, lower noise and more functionality than the lower priced machines. Please ask about our Easy Payment Plan if you are interested in other financing options.
Top -
Can I pay for my machine in installments?
We do have a payment plan program available for some machines. The payment schedule consists of a down payment of 50% of the machine cost, followed by 12 equal, and interest-free monthly payments. To see a breakdown of the eligible machines and their prices, click here.
Top -
What happens if the machine or mask I purchase doesn’t work for me?

Take a look at our return and exchange policy, or if you still have questions, please call us. We strive to make shopping at easybreathe.com a positive experience for all of our customers, regardless of their initial concerns.

What is Easy Breathe technology?
Easy Breathe technology was invented by ResMed. It uses an advanced algorithm (usually based on your last five breaths) to make adjustments to pressure allowing you to sleep better. It makes changes in response to flow limitations, snoring, and apneas. These adjustments ensure that the patient constantly has the lowest pressure necessary to maintain an open airway and get a great night’s sleep.

Can I purchase sleep apnea equipment or supplies without a prescription?
By Federal law, prior to shipping your purchase of sleep apnea equipment or certain sleep apnea supplies, we are required to secure a copy of a valid prescription. We are not required to have a prescription for mask parts (pillows, cushions, seals, headgear), tubes or filters.
Top -
What does my prescription need to include?
For machine purchases, your prescription should have the healthcare professional's information and signature, the type of machine you need (CPAP, Auto CPAP, or Bi-Level), and the pressure at which the machine is to be set. For an Auto CPAP, it is not necessary for the prescription to include a pressure setting. This prescription is also valid for humidifiers and sleep apnea mask purchases.
Top -
How long is my prescription valid?
If there is an expiration date on the prescription, the prescription is good until that expiration date. If there is no expiration date, a prescription is good for life when purchasing CPAP supplies out-of-pocket. In this case, once your CPAP prescription is on file with us, you will never need to supply another one. If you need help getting your prescription, please contact one of our prescription coordinators at (866) 564-2252.

Why do I need a prescription for a mask? I’ve been using a CPAP machine for years!
This is a great question. Not all doctors make their patients aware that the FDA made CPAP machines, humidifiers, and masks class two medical devices. As such, these items are available for prescription only. Even though you’ve been using a CPAP, a new provider must have a copy of your prescription before shipping out those items. For insurance billing purposes, a prescription is required for any supplies, but for cash-pay, the prescription is only necessary for a machine, humidifier, or mask system. Don’t worry, though – we’re committed to getting you supplies in the easiest way possible. Just let us know that you need some assistance, and we’ll be happy to help you acquire a copy.
Top -
If I have a machine prescription, do I need a separate prescription to purchase replacement parts for masks, machines or humidifiers?
No. Cushions, headgear, other mask parts, machine filters, humidifier chambers and other replacement parts do not require a prescription for purchase.
Top -
What are your hours of operation?

What is sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that happens when a person’s breathing pattern is irregular or interrupted during sleep. Often times, people with sleep apnea stop breathing completely during sleep, sometimes hundreds of times each night. Because of the frequent interruption of breath, the brain and rest of the body do not receive enough oxygen. The lack of oxygen can be linked to a number of other health concerns such as obesity, high blood pressure, and narcolepsy.
There are two types of sleep apnea:
•Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA): The more common of the two forms of apnea, it is caused by a blockage of the airway, usually when the soft tissue in the back of the throat collapses during sleep.
•Central sleep apnea: Unlike OSA, the airway is not blocked but the brain fails to signal the muscles to breathe due to instability in the respiratory control center.if you have Central Sleep Apnea or complex sleep apnea, a machine service ventilator (SV) technology is necessary. If you’re unsure about what this means, please contact us!
Top -
How do I know if I have sleep apnea?
If you feel tired in the morning when you wake up, frequently wake up during the night, or often feel the need to take naps during the day, you may have sleep apnea. Loud snoring is also a symptom of OSA.
Top -
How do I get tested for OSA?
To get tested for OSA, you can go to a sleep lab or have a home sleep test. These tests track your blood oxygen content, how many apneas you may have during your sleep, and any hypopneas (when your breathing slows below a normal pace) during the night. A board-certified sleep doctor needs to interpret your results in order to tell you if you have sleep apnea and how severe your case might be.
Top -
Can I avoid going to a sleep lab for a sleep test?
Yes, you can. There are home sleep tests available now that are easier, more affordable, and more accurate than going to a sleep lab. Click here to see more about the home sleep test.
Top -
How accurate are the home sleep test kits?
These tests yield very accurate results because you take the test from the comfort of your own home while sleeping in your own bed. Medicare and most other insurance companies acknowledge home sleep testing as a valid option for diagnosing OSA.
Top -
How does the home sleep test kit work?
For the home sleep test, first, you need to acquire a prescription from your doctor. Once we have that copy on file, we will send you a sleep test kit (complete with step-by-step instructions) to use. Simply wrap the kit around your abdomen or forehead (depending on the kit you receive), place the sensor on your index finger, and the oxygen cannula in your nostrils. Once you use the kit for one night, send it back to the home sleep testing company and we will contact you once we have your results. It takes up to 48 hours for the results to be processed upon receiving the test back.
